Close-up magic is when the magician circulates while the guests are standing chatting, and creates magic for small groups - typically, two to five people at a time. This is also known as mix-and-mingle magic.
Table magic is when the magician shows close-up magic to guests who are seated at, yes, a table. Dinner for a large number of guests can be quite a long-drawn-out affair and it's fun for people to see some magic between courses.
This type of magic, performed up close, is exciting. The magic happens right under the guests' noses - or even in their own hands - and it generates a happy, buzzing atmosphere.
